Thank You - a poem about people who have been supportive of me

Thank You...

I've been putting in work for over seventeen years, I've held a lot of hands and shed a lot of tears. I've preached too many funerals of those who went before their time, but some of 'em are kicking it with God and busting a rhyme. I've watched little sisters say good-bye to their brothers, I've prayed with many of their hurting mothers.

You watched me comfort and console, and you brought the same to me when the day was done. That was one of my boys, too, as I laid him to rest under the sun. - Thank you

Church service is over, and the crowd moves in, wanting everything from bills paid, and forgiveness of sin. That's not really a problem, no need for alarm or warning, it's the phone calls at three in the morning. It's 24/7, and that's a fact. Ministry is a lifestyle, not a job or an act.

You saw ME beginning to sink, and starting to drown, no one else noticed but I'm glad you were around. You extended your hand and gave me a lift, though you were busy all night working an extra shift. - Thank you

One crisis after another, everyone's problems I can't fix, I trust in the Lord 'cause I know His hand's in the mix. Sometimes I grow weary, and tired and just want to give up and quit. At times, all I want to do is stare at the walls and sit.

You're the one that see's me as I begin to fall in a rut, you remind me of who I am and kick me in the butt. Lord, I know I need it myself at times... I want to say thanks to all of you who care as I type these rhymes. - Thank you. Thank you so much for all that you do, especially when others around you don't have a clue.

Most of all - thank you Lord for loving me, it's because of you that I am free.

God bless,
Chuck Griffis, Evangelist
